Being Venezuelan means: running, fear, anxiety, being dislocated. Since 1999 Venezuela started a process of des-modernization. The power became centralized in hands of the socialist autocracy of Hugo Chavez, this process ended up in massive migration, poorness, hunger and lack of understanding.

Being Venezuelan became a suffering journey like Cassandra running from place to place speaking the truth about socialism with no-one understanding it. We carry that weight. We carry with the impossibility of a document that stablish our identity. Obtaining a passport is one of the hardest applications in the country and has become in the biggest source of income for the corrupt members of the Chavista Mafia.

That’s why this work is important as a testimony of the rictus that made us ask God “to pass this cup” on us in foreign mountains.

Venezuela has been destroyed. The system has been destroyed. The people has been destroyed. Being raised in socialism I came to realize that the promise of a better world where we are all equal ends up being a lie. The systems are a result of the people who implemented it. The more corrupt and separated from society they feel the more likely they are to want to destroy it.

We are born broken in a system that sustains it self in corruption and violence. We grow up in the pain of never been able to be free to choose. We are the broken people.
